Porcelain vases and hand built plates and bowls.
Maker: Mary Beth Pinckney
MODERN BĀSIK is inspired by simplicity and geometry. By combining different elements from various art forms my hope is to bring a little unique, functional piece of art to your home. The pieces I make are geometrically inspired with clean crisp lines yet handcrafted. The vases are first designed on the computer using CAD software and then 3D printed with plastic. The plastic 3D printed shape is then used to make a plaster mold. I use the plaster mold to slip cast with porcelain slip and have started to really play within the shape, using stained slip to create abstract designs. I have also recently been hand building bowls and plates but keeping the same geometric vibe. Shapes such as hexagons, triangles, pentagons and rectangles, these pieces are decorated with hand-drawn, print-style pin stripes, lines and shapes.
